Differences in Soil Types

Because soils have different textures, water holding capacities
and infiltration rates etc, irrigation requirements may differ
between different zones in one field. Application rates can be
pre-determined for automatic rate control on different soil types.

Overlapping of Pivots

The Farmscan 7000 VRI ensures more efficient water use.
Pivots can be programmed to automatically shut- off to avoid overlap and non-crop inclusions in the field.

Topographic Variability

Low lying and boggy areas can also be excluded from watering.

Multiple Crops Under Pivot

With multiple crops under production, harvest timing
and watering regimes are often different.

How it works

The Farmscan 7000 system enables variable water application rates. Using GPS, banks of sprinklers are cycled on / off according to a pre-determined prescription map. Additionally, it controls pivot travel speed and end gun function for optimal efficiency.

System Design

The Farmscan 7000 master node can control five zones plus end gun in stand alone mode.

By adding Farmscan's 7001 slave nodes along the boom on a simple shared communication system, up to 48 watering zones plus endgun can be controlled.

Sprinklers are grouped into banks and these banks are controlled by either an air or a water pilot line that turns the water off. Using air/water control greatly reduces sensitivity to impurities in the water.

Fail Safe Operation

This unique and innovative system is 100% failsafe. If the 7000 is disconnected from power, the pivot will return to normal operation, with all watering points on and end gun and pivot speed under normal manual control.

Prescription Mapping

Prescription maps are created using PC desktop software.

The application map divides the circular area covered by the pivot into 1-10° pie slices and every slice is divided into segments.

Rates can be assigned to as many or as few of these segments as required. Maps are then transferred to the 7000 controller via a USB stick. The GPS at the end of the pivot monitors actual position.

If watering rates need to increase above 100%, the pivot will be slowed down. Similarly, if less than 100% is required in zones, the pivot will walk faster, saving energy and wear and tear.

Future Developments

All applications developed for the Farmscan 7000 are tested extensively in the field to ensure robust performance over many years.

Products are under continuous development, with new and enhanced applications being released regularly.
